Indoor Golf League, Kirrawee

The Thursday Night Battle of The Bay

Teams of two, a house handicap that gives everyone a shot at the title, and a different course every week. Season runs 8 to 10 weeks.

HOW THE LEAGUE WORKS

2v2, Handicapped, and Anyone's to Win

Two of you against two of them, four to a bay, every Thursday night for a season.

The format rotates so it never goes stale: stroke play one week, ambrose the next, match play when the rivalry needs settling. A different course every round, from the famous replicas to the cult favourites. Weekly Prizes for Nearest the Pin and Longest Putt.

And because every player carries a house handicap, the newcomer and the club golfer are both genuinely in it. You’re not competing against their swing. You’re competing against their improvement.

THE HANDICAP

Your Number, Sorted in One Free Session

No Golf Australia handicap? No problem, and no gatekeeping.

Book your free handicap session, play 18 holes, and we register the score. That round sets your house handicap, and every league night adjusts from there. Shoot 8 over off a 10 handicap and you’ve posted minus 2; the leaderboard rewards playing above yourself, not just playing well.

The house handicap lives inside The Bay only. If you’re chasing the official version, our guide to getting a Golf Australia handicap explains the outdoor path, and league nights are the perfect practice for it.

A SEASON, NOT A ONE-OFF

Eight to Ten Weeks of Something to Look Forward To

A league season gives Thursday a job: same night, same rivals, a ladder that remembers everything.

You eat and drink while you play, the Hosts keep the bays running, and the season ends with a presentation night and prizes. Then the next season opens and the grudges roll over.

Interest decides how far it grows. Thursday is the founding night; if the Shire wants more, Tuesday and Wednesday are waiting.

BEYOND THE LEAGUE

Competitions for Every Kind of Competitive

Not ready for a season? Join our Weekly handicapped competitions. Play when it suits you, log your score, watch the leaderboard! By the end of each week we crown our winners.
Also available is Online GSpro competitions connecting The Bay’s players worldwide, play against the best Indoor golfers in the world.

Group bookings can run their own formats too: ambrose for the mixed crew, a longest-drive ladder for the loud ones. Ask your Hosts to set it up, or plan a full event.

FAQs

League and Competition Questions, Answered

Can you get a handicap playing on a simulator?

Not an official Golf Australia handicap; those require outdoor rounds on affiliated courses. What you get at The Bay is a house handicap, set in one free session, valid for our leagues and competitions. It keeps every contest fair inside the venue.

A handicap is a number representing your playing ability, used so players of different standards can compete fairly. It’s roughly the strokes you’d play over par on a standard course. At The Bay, your house handicap does the same job for league nights, set from a free 18-hole session.

Match play scores golf hole by hole: win the hole, take the point, and the match is decided by holes won rather than total strokes. It’s the most head-to-head format golf has. The Bay’s league rotates match play through the season for exactly that reason.

Ambrose is a team format where everyone hits, the team picks the best shot, and all players play again from there. It keeps every ability involved and moves fast. It’s a league-night staple at The Bay and the go-to format for mixed groups.

Each player tees off, the team chooses the best ball, and everyone plays their next shot from that spot, repeating to the hole. One team score goes on the card. Beginners contribute from their first swing, which is why we run it for events too.

A scramble is the same best-ball idea as ambrose: teams hit, pick the best result, and play on from there, with regional variations in the rules. If your crew calls it a scramble, we won’t argue. We’ll just set the bay up for it.

Stableford awards points per hole against par rather than counting total strokes: par earns two points, birdie three, bogey one. Blow-up holes stop hurting, which keeps social rounds fun. It’s one of the formats The Bay can run on league and group nights.
